🍫 Ingredients
These are the ingredients that make up homemade granola, which is why there are as many granola recipes as there are tastes.
Quantities can be found in the recipe card below.
- Cereals: oats, wheat, rye, buckwheat, millet, quinoa, etc...
- A fat to bind I recommend the oil of your choice: walnut oil, sesame oil, olive oil, coconut oil, etc...
- Nut : hazelnuts, pecans, almonds, cashews, macadamia nuts, pistachios, etc...
- Sweetener: liquid. I love maple syrup, but you can use agave syrup or honey.
- A little gourmet touch: pieces of chocolate, baked with your granola or added afterwards, once it's cold. Discover the Eco Tips I wrote about chocolate!
You can also add spices: cinnamon, ginger, allspice, gingerbread mix, etc...
If you like it (which I don't), you can add dried fruit: prunes, cherries, banana chips, apricots, dates, cranberries, raisins, etc... Some people also like to add seeds: flax, chia, pumpkin, black cumin, etc.
🔎 Make your own granola mix
Now that you've got my basic recipe, you can play around with the mixes to make your favourite granola.
1 portion of rolled oats + ⅙ portion of the oil of your choice + 1 portion of nuts + ½ portion of chocolate-type delicacy
✨ Nutritional benefits
- Dark chocolate is a tonic, stimulant and anti-depressant. It is also rich in minerals and trace elements. It is a source of vitamins (B1 and B2), which are good for the brain, as well as vitamin A, which is great for eyesight.
- Oat flakes are high in calcium, iron, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium and other minerals. They are also beneficial for the skin, as they have moisturizing, soothing and repairing properties.
- Walnut oil (if that's the fat you choose) is excellent for concentration, memory, cholesterol reduction and the heart.
- Nuts are rich in antioxidants (particularly vitamins B and E) and fiber.
✅ Vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free version
- To make this recipe vegan and dairy-free, buy vegan chocolate with no trace of milk.
- To make this recipe gluten-free, buy gluten-free rolled oats or replace them with buckwheat, millet or quinoa flakes. Pay attention to the chocolate you buy: if it's gluten-free, it will be specified on the packaging.
🥰 Chef's tips
- Spread it out well on your baking sheet, even if it means making two batches. It must have room to cook evenly.
- Wait until the granola has cooled completely before placing it in its jar. Otherwise, it may soften.
💡 Frequently Asked Questions
It boosts energy and is satiating. Thanks to the quantity of vitamins, fibers and minerals it contains, it is as good for our body's external appearance (nails, hair, skin) as it is for our psyche, which it calms and relaxes.
Unlike muesli, granola is baked in the oven and contains binders (honey, maple syrup, oil, etc.). And while granola can be eaten cold with yoghurt or milk, muesli can be heated.
❄️ Storage / freezing
Store your homemade granola in a glass jar with a lid, or in an airtight tin. Leave it in the shade and away from moisture to prevent it from going soft. You can also store it in the fridge, but be careful when you eat it as it will be quite fresh. It will keep for 1 month.
You can also place it in a freezer bag to keep it for longer(about 3 months), but it's been eaten for a long time, believe me!

Best homemade granola
Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cups rolled oats (100g)
- ¼ cup hazelnuts (30g)
- ¼ cup blanched almonds (30g)
- ⅓ cup pecans (30g)
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon walnut oil
- ⅓ cup dark chocolate minimum 70% cocoa (50g)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F/150°C on natural convection/static heat high and low. Crush the pecans, hazelnuts and almonds separately.
- Place in a bowl with the oats, then add the maple syrup and walnut oil. You can add the pre-crushed chocolate at this point to melt into the granola, or add it at step 4 - it's up to you!
- Mix well, then place in a large ovenproof dish lined with parchment paper. Bake for 25 minutes, stirring well halfway through.
- Remove the granola from the oven and leave to cool outside the dish. If you didn't add the chocolate in step 2, you can add it now once the granola is completely cold.
- Once completely cold, place in a jar for storage and close the lid securely.
