🧃The best juice to fight hangovers
Did you lift your elbow too much last night? I'm not judging, it's happened to all of us before and generally, the next day we're not really very fresh! Head spinning, nausea, dryness (I always feel like I've been turned into an old plant in the middle of a desert myself), stomach upsets, migraines: in short, I won't draw you a picture, you know the symptoms as well as I do.
And so after years (when you put it like that, it sounds a bit like an alcoholic, but I swear it's not hahaha) of absolutely terrible hangovers, I thought that Mother Nature must have done things right, as usual, and that there must be something to relieve a terrible hangover. We just had to figure out what...
And I ended up finding "THE" perfect juice for the day after a night of drinking! It changed my life, so I'm sharing it with you. Simply blend apple, banana, ginger, spinach shoots, carrot, orange and chia seeds.
If you have some, you can also add moringa powder. The leaves of this Asian and African tree are packed with calcium, vitamin C and magnesium. Moringa also has anti-fatigue and anti-inflammatory properties.
🍐 A super adaptable recipe
If you don't like certain ingredients, there's nothing to stop you swapping them out or replacing them with others. The possibilities are endless when it comes to juices.
You can add celery, cucumber or parsley, for example.
You can also drink it at home or put it in a mug to take away (often, a good walk and fresh air help with a hangover). Drink within 30 minutes of preparation to retain maximum nutrients.
Another great idea is to put the juice in a bowl and add fresh fruit slices on top!
💙 Why will you love this recipe?
- It takes only 5 minutes to prepare
- It really helps you feel better
- No wacky ingredients, just super-easy-to-find ingredients (except moringa, which is optional).
- The recipe is completely adaptable to your tastes.
🙏🏼 Ingredients that help detoxify the liver
- Orange cleanses the body and provides vitamin C.
- One of its many virtues, ginger helps combat nausea.
- Bananas are rich in potassium, which we gradually lose when we drink, and help combat digestive disorders and nausea.
- Spinach also relieves headaches, is full of iron and vitamin C, and lowers blood pressure.
- Apples are packed with antioxidants and minerals like magnesium. It helps counteract stomach aches and detoxify our liver more quickly.
- Chia seeds provide deep nourishment for skin that has become extremely dehydrated after a night of drinking. The proteins in chia seeds help skin regenerate by repairing tissue. Thanks to omega-3s, proteins soften the skin and give it greater elasticity. The fibers inside help reduce stomach acidity.
- Carrots regenerate the liver by providing natural sugar and help improve skin condition.
- Moringa is 17 times richer in calcium than yoghurt, contains 7 times more vitamin C than oranges and 4 times more magnesium than chocolate. But it is also anti-fatigue, anti-inflammatory, helps to reduce blood pressure and prevent heart attacks. As you can see, it's packed with benefits!
🥕 The fruit and vegetables inside, when do they get eaten?
- Apples: a long season from August to April included
- Bananas: all year round, as they are not a local product
- Orange: January, February and March only
- Spinach shoots: September to May included
- Carrots: September to March included
😇 Storage
To get the most out of this juice, I recommend drinking it within 30 minutes of preparation. After this time, your fruit will gradually lose its nutrients...
You can, of course, freeze this fruit juice in freezer bags and keep it for 3 to 4 months. There may be a slight change in texture or color when defrosted, but it will have retained all its nutrients! To defrost, put it in the fridge the night before, so that it thaws slowly and is ready for your (painful) wake-up call.
🥱 What do you do when you've had too much to drink the night before?
- Drink plenty of water before going to bed and the next day, even if you don't necessarily feel like it. Your body is completely dehydrated from the alcohol, so rehydrating it is very important, and will also help reduce the headache and make you feel better more quickly.
- Don't expose yourself to bright light and avoid noise as much as possible.
- It's sometimes said that you have to treat evil with evil: it's a slippery slope...
- Try to get some rest and sleep: it can take up to 24 hours to really get better (one day, it even lasted 48 hours for me...I was really going at it!).
- I love going for walks: even if at first I don't feel like it at all, the fresh air and movement always end up doing me good.
- Tomato juice is a super-helper, since it contains lots of vitamin C, glutathione to fight toxins and lycopene to help soothe the liver.
😋 And what do we eat?
Light recipes
Theoretically, you should eat lightly so as not to put extra strain on the liver, which is already working hard to get better.
Here are a few ideas for light recipes, to be adapted according to the season, of course:
- Hot salad of coral lentils, chicken, carrots and feta cheese - A recipe rich in vegetables, proteins and legumes that will do you good. What's more, it's ready in 25 minutes, and apart from letting it cook, you don't have to do much!
- Melt-in-the-mouth leek, avocado, shrimp and lamb's lettuce salad - What could be better than vegetables, salad and protein? 5 minutes preparation and 20 minutes cooking: another super-fast recipe!
- Avocado, sweet potato and gorgonzola salad - Vegetables, vegetables and more vegetables! With a touch of gourmandise, brought to you by the gorgonzola: just because you're hungover doesn't mean you have to have a depressing plate! Again, 5 minutes preparation and 20 minutes cooking.
- Grilled asparagus, avocado and poached egg hot salad - 25 minutes for this super gourmet salad, and what's more, asparagus and eggs are great for fighting off a hangover!
Comforting recipes
Let's face it: sometimes you just don't feel like a salad at all, but rather a big, comforting, gourmet dish. Here are a few options for you to choose from, depending on the season and your mood:
- Stuffed crescent with savory filling - It's sooo good and so quick to make! The only drawback is that you need a crescent. Come on, let's make a superhuman effort and rush to the bakery to treat ourselves and do some good!
- Avocado burger and the best potatoes - you won't be ordering Macdo again! This recipe is a bit long, but I swear it's so worth it!
- Chicken Katsudon - aka my favorite dish! Likewise, it takes a while to prepare, but it's such a big hit...
- Italian croque monsieur - Ready in just 10 minutes, this croque monsieur with pesto, Parma ham and spinach (excellent for hangovers, I remind you) is a pure delight if you're too lazy to spend time in the kitchen.
- Creamy lemon and mascarpone pasta - This ultra-gourmet pasta is ready in 15 minutes, and it's guaranteed to take your mind off your unhappiness!
- Chinese onion beef - This dish needs no introduction - it's a real treat!
- Cheesy eggplant involtini - one of my favorite summer dishes! Ultra-melting eggplants with tomato sauce, feta, mozzarella and ricotta...I'm salivating here!
If you make this hangover juice, it would be so nice to leave me a comment and rate the recipe ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. You can also tag me on Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook or Tik Tok, or even send me a photo, I love seeing my little dishes in your homes!
