The mugcake: a quick and practical snack
I discovered the mugcake concept during my very first confinement. Quick and ideal when you don't want to go to the trouble of making a huge cake, the mugcake can be used in an infinite number of ways.
And let's face it, when we cook or bake, it's often to share with family and friends.
But what do you do when you're dreaming of a cake, but you're all alone at home and don't want to spoil it because you can't eat a cake for 6 by yourself? Well, by making a mugcake of course, since these cakes are generally for solo use.
No oven required
What's more, you don't even need a competitive oven, as the mugcake can be made in the microwave. And for those who are skeptical about baking a cake in the microwave, I swear it's sublime!
Which chocolate to choose?
Dark chocolate chips! If it can be fair trade, even better!
My best tip
As European, I'm used to working in grams and milliliters. For savory dishes, the American measuring system can work just perfectly. But for anything sweet, I really recommend using a digital scale, which is much more precise. That way, you'll be sure to succeed with your recipes.
If you make this chocolate chip mug cake, it would be so nice to leave me a comment and rate the recipe ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. You can also tag me on Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook or Tik Tok, or even send me a photo, I love seeing my little dishes in your homes!
📖 Recette
5-minute chocolate chip mug cake
Ingredients
- 2 ½ tablespoons chocolate chips (35g)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (30g)
- 2 ½ tablespoons sugar (30g)
- 1 egg
- 3 teaspoons all-purpose flour (15g)
- Whipped cream optional
Instructions
- Place chocolate chips and butter in a mug.
- Melt for 1 minute in the microwave. Stir with a spoon, then add the sugar and stir again.
- Then add the egg, mix, add the flour and mix again.
- Cook in the microwave for 30 seconds, then again for 30 seconds (to avoid overflowing), opening the microwave door between cookings to allow the soufflé to settle. You can add another 30 seconds if necessary: every microwave is different. Enjoy!
