    💙Why you'll love them

    • Quick and easy - ready within 20 minutes, they are an absolute cinch to prepare, trust me!
    • Versatile - it's such a great way to enjoy delightfully melty mozzarella, wether it's for a movie night, a game day, New Year's Eve, barbecues, dinner parties or even for birthdays!
    • Comfort food - it's one of my favorite thing to go for when I'm craving for a delicious and comforting appetizer or snack!

    🧀Ingredients

You can find a full list of ingredients and measurements in the recipe card below. Here are a few ingredient notes to make these mozzarella cheese sticks.

    • Pizza dough - I use store-bought pizza dough, that you can often find in the refrigerated section of your grocery store (or in the frozen section), as it's quicker. If you don't find it there, go for the tubes of pizza dough, that are always near the canned biscuits. But you can also make your own dough if you prefer! I get it, sometimes we all prefer the "made-from-scratch taste"!
    • Parmesan cheese, perfect for the maximum cheese flavor! I recommend to buy it in block, then grate it yourself at the last moment, it's sooooo much better!
    • Mozzarella cheese - in my opinion, you should avoid regular mozzarella cheese and prefer string cheese, as it will hold its shape much better during baking. You can go for full-fat mozzarella string cheese and avoid part-skim mozzarella cheese.

    🌶Variations & serving tips

Feel free to change this recipe to go with your tastes. I suggest several options:

    • Other cheese - you can completely replace mozzarella cheese with string cheddar cheese, it will be absolutely amazing too! Just avoid shredded cheese.
    • Seasoning - next time you try this recipe, try to add Mexican, Italian seasoning or a spice blend that you like on top. It's a great twist!
    • Spice it up with a pinch of Cayenne pepper or a few red pepper flakes.
    • Mini breadsticks - as you can see on the pictures, I've made large and big breadsticks, but you can totally make them smaller. Choose the size that you prefer!
    • Gluten-free - make sure your pizza dough and your mozzarella cheese are gluten-free.
    • Vegan - use a vegan pizza dough and replace mozzarella cheese with the plant-based cheese that you like.
    • Dipping sauce - I love to dip my breadsticks in a warm marinara sauce or a delicious ranch sauce.

This recipe has not been tested using any other substitutions. If you do try substituting ingredients, it may not turn out as it's meant to. Please leave a comment below letting me know if it worked out!

    👩🏻‍🍳Chef's tips

    1. Use cold mozzarella, to make sure that the cheese filling will not leak out during baking.
    2. Don't overstuff your breadsticks with cheese, to avoid leaking out during baking.
    3. Make sure to perfectly seal the pizza dough - you should fold the dough over the mozzarella cheese sticks and press down the edges with your fingers together to seal them. Make sure the cheese is completely enclosed in the dough to prevent it from leaking out during baking.
    4. If you're worried about the mozzarella leaking out of the breadsticks during baking, you can freeze for 30 minutes before baking.
    5. Beautiful decoration tip - you can twist or braid your breadsticks before baking for a beautiful decoration.
    6. Serve pipping hot - they are best when they come straight out from the oven, so enjoy them pipping hot!

    💡Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add other ingredients to the cheese filling?

Yes of course, such as cooked bacon, sausage, pepperoni, spices, herbs, sliced olives, etc... Whatever you like!

    Can I deep-fry these breadsticks?

I've never tried, but I'm sure you could! Let me know in the comment section if you try, I can't wait to know!

    ❄️Storage and freezing

    • Store - let the breadsticks cool completely, wrap them in a plastic wrap and place them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
    • Reheat - place the breadsticks in a preheated oven (350°F/175°C), on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 5-10 minutes, or until heated through and the cheese is perfectly melted again. I recommend avoiding the microwave, as it will soften your breadsticks.
    • Freeze - place breadsticks on a plate and freeze for 3 hours. Once pre-frozen, you can place them in a freezer bag, labelled with the date and the name of the recipe, and put it in the freezer.
    • Defrost - place frozen breadsticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make sure there is just one single layer. Then put in a preheated oven (350°F/175°C) for approximatively 10-15 minutes, until they are perfectly hot and the cheese melts again.
