Created to make bars more feminine
The origins of the Cosmopolitan date back to 1958, when it was known as the "Stealth Martini". In the 70s, it was a barmaid called Cheryl Cook who transformed it into Cosmopolitan to make the bar population more feminine.
Thank you Sex And The City
The Cosmopolitan also owes its fame to the hit series Sex And The City: Carry Bradshaw, Samantha Jones, Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbes often meet in New York's trendy bars over a Cosmopolitan to talk about their lives. The Cosmopolitan has become so famous that it even has variants: the Royal Cosmo, where the vodka is replaced by champagne, and the Cointreaupolitan, where much more Cointreau is added.
Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health, and should be consumed in moderation.
