These homemade baked potatoes are absolutely incredible: super soft and melt-in-your-mouth on the inside, and nice and crispy on the outside. They're fragrant with spices, delicious and above all child's play to make.

    💙 Why you'll love them

    • They're incredibly simple, perfect for beginners, and you don't even have to peel the potatoes.
    • They're exactly the same as Macdonald's, only better and healthier!
    • They are vegan and gluten-free.
    • They require just ahandful of ingredients and are economical to make.
    • They can be kept for several days, making them ideal for batch cooking.

    🥔 Ingredients

You'll need the following ingredients. You can find the quantities in the recipe card below.

    • Potatoes: grenailles (not a variety, but a size for small potatoes) are ideal, and for variety, Ratte, Charlotte or Bonnotte are perfect.
    • Spices: cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper and ground coriander.
    • Olive oil for cooking.
    • Garlic - if you want to choose your garlic carefully so you do not encourage the slavery of Chinese prisoners, read my Eco Tips on the subject.

✨ What to serve these potatoes with?

    • A falafel burger with yoghurt-mint sauce - An original burger that blends Lebanese and American cultures.
    • The avocado burger with breaded chicken - The homemade version of Macdonald's avocado burger with breaded chicken.
    • With bao buns - These super-soft Chinese buns are gourmet, addictive and can be topped with anything you like.
    • With homemade tenders - Melt-in-your-mouth on the inside and super crispy on the outside, these homemade tenders are tasty and delicious: much better than at KFC!
    • With chicken Karaage - Considered by many to be one of the best fried chickens in the world, it's crispy, flavorful and very tender.
    • With cordon bleu - The cordon bleu of your childhood is back!

    ✅ Gluten-free version

Some spices or spice blends contain traces of gluten. You can buy garlic semolina, paprika and cayenne pepper from Cook (this article is not sponsored). Remove the cumin, which may contain traces of gluten.

    🥰 Chef's tips

    1. No need to peel your potatoes: the skin is not only tasty and nutritious, but also crispy.
    2. Double baking is what makes these potatoes so melt-in-the-mouth on the inside and crispy on the outside: first boiled, then baked.
    3. Feel free to add a little olive oil if necessary during baking.

    ❄️ Storage

They can be kept for 3 to 4 days in an airtight tupperware in the fridge.

To reheat, put them in the oven at 320°F/160°C for a few minutes, as the microwave will soften them too much.

    The BEST homemade potatoes

These potatoes are super soft and melt-in-the-mouth on the inside, and nice and crispy on the outside. They're fragrant and very simple!
    Servings 4 servings
    Prep Time 5 minutes mins
    Cook Time 50 minutes mins
    Total Time 55 minutes mins

    Ingredients

    • 2 ⅓ cups potatoes
    • 5 teaspoons ground cumin
    • 2 tablespoons ground paprika
    • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
    • 7 tablespoons olive oil
    • 1 pinch Cayenne pepper
    • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
    • Salt
    • Black pepper
    Metric - US Customary

    Instructions

    • Preheat your oven to 390°F/200°C in conventional mode. Wash the potatoes and cut them into quarters without peeling them. Then, place them in a pot of boiling water and let them cook for 10 minutes from the moment the water comes back to a boil. Drain them, pat them dry with a clean towel, and transfer them to a mixing bowl.
    • Add the cumin, paprika, garlic, pepper, salt, cayenne pepper, coriander, and olive oil. Mix everything well, and spread them out evenly on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil, being careful not to overlap them.
    • Place them in the oven and let them cook for 45 minutes (they should be nicely golden), turning the potatoes halfway through the cooking time. You can add a bit more olive oil for extra crispiness.
