🧀Ingredients
You can find a full list of ingredients and measurements in the recipe card below. Here are a few ingredient notes to make this easy dinner recipe.
- Fresh Parmesan cheese - I really recommend avoiding pre-shredded cheese, that's much less flavorful. Buy an entire block of Parmesan cheese in your grocery store and grate it yourself at the last moment, you'll see, it's soooo much better! No comparison possible...
- Fresh salmon, that you can buy at your local seafood market.
- Homemade Alfredo sauce - it's the best way to have the most delicious recipe. Store-bought sauce is not as tasty and it's full of conservatives and additives...
- Pasta - I recommend to go for long pastas, that go best with Alfredo sauce. I personally love to use Fettuccine pasta, but Spaghetti, Linguine, Mafaldine, Tagliatelle, etc...could work perfectly too!
🍗Variations
Feel free to change this recipe to go with your tastes. I suggest several options:
- Gluten-free - use gluten-free pasta and make sure that your salt and pepper are gluten-free.
- Proteins - replace salmon with chicken (as in this Blackened chicken Alfredo), ground beef or tofu.
- Seasonings - add Italian seasoning or spicy Cajun seasoning to your Alfredo sauce for an even more flavorful sauce.
- More veggies - add baby spinach, cherry tomatoes or sun-dried tomatoes to the sauce.
- Spice it up with a pinch of Cayenne pepper or some red pepper flakes.

✨How to make these salmon Fettuccine Alfredo?
Recipe details and quantities are in the recipe card below.
- Place the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, add cremini mushrooms, salmon fillets and cook on for 4-5 minutes both sides.
- Once cooked, set mushrooms aside. Take salmon skin out, place them in aluminum foil, close tightly and set aside until the recipe is finished.
- Cook pasta in a large pot of water, following the package instructions for al dente pasta.
- Meanwhile, prepare the creamy sauce - melt butter over medium heat, then add heavy cream and freshly grated Parmesan in the skillet.
- Lower the heat, mix well, leave to infuse for 1-2 minutes, then add the cooked pasta, mushrooms and salmon, that you crumble with a wooden spoon. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Serve on plates, sprinkle with fresh basil and enjoy!
👩🏻🍳Chef's tips
- Cook the pasta al dente - the pasta will finish cooking while in the pan, so don't overcook them or you might end up with a mishmash haha.
- Salmon's cooking time may slightly vary depending on the size and thickness of your fillets.
- Use a sharp knife to get salmon skin out, it will be much easier!
- Cook alfredo sauce on low heat, as a heat that's too high can make the sauce split or curdle.
- Whisk very well after you add the freshly grated Parmesan cheese, so it melts perfectly in the sauce.
- Stir the sauce constantly - this is the best way to avoid splitting or curdling.
💡Frequently Asked Questions
I don't recommend it, as it REALLY doesn't have the same taste and texture...
I really love to serve a pasta dish with some bread. My number one recommandation would be my delicious Ciabatta, but a focaccia bread would be heavenly too! You can also go for a green salad for a healthier option.
